PHILOSOPHY

My method of Dog Training and Behavior modification is based on a philosophy, created by Canine Behaviorist Jan Fennell, called Amichien Bonding. Since dog's can't communicate to us in our language, This method helps us communicate using the dogs own language.

Dogs are domestic creatures now. They're our best friends and parts of our families. What we can not forget, however, is that our dogs are not little people. They are direct descendents of wolves. Dogs, like wolves, are pack animals. And Amechien Bonding is based on pack behavior. Everything in a dog's life, from the minute they are born, is based on heirarchy. They live a life where only a pack with a solid hierarchy and a solid leader will survive. Canine behavioral issues arise because many people, unintentionally, give their dogs mixed signals as to who is in charge. People give these mixed signals, because they don't understand that a human pack leader is not the same as a canine pack leader. There are specific rituals, attitudes, and behaviors, that define leadership in a dog's world, that are quite different than a human leader in a human world, and people need to be taught these differences. Therefore, the dog gets confused. When this, unintentional, confusion happens, the dogs sees no clear leader, and instinctually takes over. Even if he/she is incapable of doing so.

The dog takes over the lead of the pack(your family). However, since your dog is incapable of handling this task, he/she becomes filled with anxiety and stress, which manifests itself in what we call, "bad or disobedient behavior."

I strongly believe that by consistently applying aspects of Amichien Bonding and Obedience Training the communication between dog and owner will be more effective, because they will be communicating much more like dogs than like people. In this way, the owner can best demonstrate calm and assertive leadership. And both dog and owner can enjoy the wonders of their time together.
